When Datsik came through, we were able to snag a little bit of footage and slam it together in this lil montage. Big Ups to Mr. Saturn for putting together this amazing event.

Mellowstep Sundays: Digital Farm Animals

Digital Farm Animals just keeps cranking out all this incredible sounding ambient dubstep. Since I first heard about them through Rub-A-Dub-Dub, they’ve quickly become a regular feature on my iPod playlists due to their very unique blend of deeply mellow and spacey wobbles and incredible use of vocals and instruments.

Exclusive: Skism’s Back Off (Alexandre Remix)
Alexandre was kind enough to send his Back Off remix my way, we featured a preview of it a few weeks ago, but it’s now available for download and enjoyment via your multimedia devices. Be sure to check out his original works as well, some really massive sounds going on there. If you’ve seen Inception, Regret Nothing might sound very familiar.

Dub & Breaks Vol. 1

I’ve been following the Breakbeat scene for over 10 years now and I have recently noticed an increase in the number of tunes that have a large Dubstep breakdown, or just a lot of Dubstep-esque elements in them. I absolutely love these tunes, but I don’t know if any one else really cares about them. This will be a test run of what may potentially become a monthly roundup of tracks like these.
Russia based Breakzhead has been making waves in the Nuskool Breaks community over the last couple years with his heavy, but funky electro-breaks style. Recently, while experimenting with dubstep in his lab, he has come up with some pretty impressive results.
Known for their head banging dance floor killers, Hardcore Beats residents The Magnet Men, just dropped this heavy tune with a really nice Dubstep intro. If you like the grimey stuff, you’ll definitely love the tracks these guys put out.
Veteran Floridabreaks producer, PillFORM let me steal this gangsta-ass tune from him after I witnessed it completely annihilate the dance floor at one of our last shows. This version will never be released, but I hear he is working with an Emcee to record some original lyrics so it can be release it legally.
We’re looking for feedback on this post. So post a comment. Tell us you like this idea, or if we should STFU about it. Either way we’d like to know.
Rusko + Sunday Girl

This is a big departure for Rusko from his normally hydraulic West Coast sounding wobbles, but for a remix of Sunday Girl it’s on the money. Big ups RCRDLBL.
Hot Temper D

Temper D has a long history on the UK scene, with over 30 vinyl releases ranging from drum and bass, to electro, fidget, and more recently, some dubstep releases on the Suicide Dubs label. Royce sent one of his funkier dubstep releases my way, and I gotta say I like it a lot. It’s always interesting when an artist steps out of their normal domain and takes a stab at something different.
Get Bready was just released and is available for purchase, but you can also download the Temper D’s High Rankin remix using the fancy little box at the bottom of this post.

Mellowstep Sundays Vol. 10
I’ve always found the phrase “seek and you shall find” to be totally incorrect in regards to my life. Usually whatever I’m looking for finds me, as long as I’m not consciously looking for it. That would pretty much describe how these Robb Himself releases somehow found me after a long week of chaotic planning leading up to the Floridub launch party. It was just what I needed: some mellow dubs.
They’re all available for download, but I’ll go ahead and update this post with direct links to the files if they end up getting maxed out on SoundCloud.
I’m not sure what he calls this compilation, but I would call it some damn smooth — almost jazzy — dub.
