Phaeleh’s new EP “Fallen Light” brings with it a deep sense of mellow and calm, but also takes the dubstep sound back to its roots with very deep rhythmic bass, gentle wobbles, accentuated with echoing vocals throughout, and hints of drum-and-bass. My favorites are Afterglow and Breathe In Air, both featuring some stellar vocals from Soundmouse.
I had a chance to ask Phaeleh a few quick questions about this collaboration as well as the album itself.
Your work with Soundmouse seems to be getting a huge and very positive response, how did that collaboration come about?
A mutual friend hit me up with some of her tunes, and i fell in love with her voice, so wrote a quick tune there and then to see if she was up for doing something, she sent some vocals back, that was afterglow finished!
What’s your personal favorite track from Fallen Light, and why?
Tricky question, I guess ‘Losing You’, ‘Hollow’ and ‘Delusions’ are probably my favourites, though if I had to pick one I think I’d go with ‘Hollow’. They were all written at the same time and think they really reflect where I was at personally at the time.
What are the top three things that have inspired your style and sound the most?
Life (more so the lows, but occasionally the highs as well), People, and any inspiring soulful music I might hear.
