Bare absolutely destroyed Fubar last Tuesday! Here is the video to prove it. Looking forward to 6blocc & Prolific tomorrow.

Ganja White Night – Northern Light (+ Free Track)
Ganja White Night is a fine and smokable blend of organic sounding dub with gentle overtones of distorted synths. It takes me to a good place.
Sook – La Mer Studio Mix 2010

I’ve been thoroughly rinsing this mix from Sook for the past week, lots of goodies in here. The introductory track from Antiserum & No Thing is what hooked me, the mystery tracks and overall chill tempo is what kept me coming back.
DZ – “Eleven Part 1″ Out Now + Free Track

Badman Press just dropped DZ’s latest album on Beatport, along with a promo tune.
Badman Press brings you the bounty of soul. DZ :: Eleven Part 1. The first in a two part set, this LP will be what defines this era in bass music for years to come. One of the originators of dubstep and pioneers of all that is bass and heavy, DZ out-does himself exploring new textures and ranges of the soundscape and vibe while staying true to the essential Badman sound.

Dub Pop Weekly Vol. 12

Busy few weeks coming up here. Tomorrow is Tampa’s annual street riot, or what we locals call ‘Gasparilla’. Summary: drunk people, boobs, pirates, beads. Next week 6Blocc and Prolific are coming to town, we interviewed Prolific this week and I’ll just say the man is strongly opinionated about his music. Passion! That’s what we like to see. Right after that is our own collabo with Tuff Love Dubs to bring you the next Floridub.com Presents party, with a ridiculous lineup. You know how most shows, you talk about the headliner? Well, everyone on our roster is headliner caliber, so when you mention one you have to mention them all. The way I see it, we don’t have any openers or closers, we have 5 artists all of which I’ve gladly payed to see headline different events on their own. Hulk is the main attraction though since as far as I know this is his first appearance in Tampa, and I am assured he will be “bringing it”.
A classy remix from KickShifta that doesn’t overpower the vocals. With several mainstream artists set to jump on the bandwagon this year, this is like a glimpse into the future of one sub-genre of dubstep that’s set to get a lot of lovin’.
I really like M.I.A., her voice sounds incredible paired with any sort of spacey mellow sounds, as MiHKAL demonstrates here. This was part of the Gruntworthy LP that we covered.
Funkiness from High Rankin.
Tuff Love Promo Mix by: Thee Joker
Long time junglist and half of the ass-kicking Dubstep duo called Static Grooves, Thee Joker is by all means a heavyweight in the Central Florida EDM scene. So it comes as no surprise that Tuff Love Dubs chose him to put together their new promo mix. If you are in the Bay Area, you can catch this master in the mix at Dangerous Fridays this week at The Social in Ybor. This promo mix is so bangin’ you should probably print out an apology letter and tape it to your neighbors’ doors before pressing play.

BASSFACE Vol. 7

OMFG the Bare show was sick! Big ups to Turbo Tuesdays for putting that show together. We got some decent footage so check for the video coming up in the next few days. Looking forward to Joker at Dangerous this Friday, then 6blocc & Prolific as well as Watts of Wub coming up in early February. For now here are some heavy wubs to ease the withdraws in between all these filthy ass shows.
- Mars and DaVIP – Two of my favorite Russian Breakbeat producers are making a strong breakthrough into the Dubstep genre with their first release on Wicky Lindows. “The Desert Rain” is a heavy and melodic driven tune with some uniquely thick and grimy patches. Keep an eye out for this one (no release date yet). Mars and DaVIP - The Desert Rain
- Calverton – I’ve really been digging the early ’90s Big Beat revival cropping up here and there in newer Dubstep and Breakbeat tunes. Most recently, Calverton came through with a face melting remix of “Gangsters” by Breaks and House phenom Rico Tubbs. Check it out. Rico Tubbs - Gangsters (CALVERTRON REMIX)
- Sluggo – Not much I can say about this one… The more I listen to this tune, the more disturbing it becomes. It seems like every time it ends, my ears feel like they have just been taken advantage of. Look for this when it drops on Ultragore Recordings. Hulk - Robots yo! (Sluggo RMX)
- Torqux & Twist – Here is a peak into what two of our favorite Dubstep masterminds are up to. Played by 12th Planet during the Mary Anne Hobbs Show on BBC Radio 1, I dare you to try listening to this track without making a BASSFACE. Peo de Pitte - Burning Up (Torqux & Twist Remix) BBC Radio 1 CLip
Spotlight: Prolific + Free Mix
Two Veteran Heavyweights in the underground music scene are bringing their unique take on Dubstep to Florida. Coming off a very successful European tour, and rocking the midwestern leg of their US tour, their journey through Florida promises to be one for the ages. If you’ve heard of 6BLOCC or Prolific before it was probably from their reputation in the DnB or Turntablism scenes, but their legacy goes farther back than Dubstep itself.
6BLOCC aka R.A.W. has been on the cutting edge of the underground music scene for twenty-five years. Stepping up to the wheels of steel in 1985, this man has had a head start on almost every DJ you’ve ever heard – he was already battling local DJs in Los Angeles as modern DJ culture was in its infancy. In 1988 he made his move into the hip hop game and dropped 2 vinyl releases under the name PROJECT X. A few years later, as the sounds of UK Hardcore and Jungle were creeping on the shelves of record stores in L.A., R.A.W. was quick to pick it up and started playing major raves along side Industry legends like DJ Dan. In 1994, with a handful of friends, R.A.W helped fuel the beginnings of the L.A. Jungle scene, where they were throwing parties in the same abandoned train station that Preditor II was filmed. Since then there have been over 3 dozen releases under the names R.A.W and 6BLOCC on several labels world wide.
Emcee/ Turntablist/ Producer/ B-Boy/ Graffiti Artist and all-around badass, Prolific, has worked along side a countless list of stars in both the EDM and HipHop industries. He is sponsored by Rane, Madclout and Urban Dewellar Clothing, he has been featured in television shows on B.E.T and NBC, and he runs the influential label, FOULPLAY RECORDS which has been well known in the DnB world, and is now dropping chart-topping Dubstep hits. Prolific is easily an industry mastermind as well as a musical genius.
Prolific spent some time with Floridub to talk about his success as well as the upcoming Florida tour. Full interview + free mix after the jump!
