Pop Goes Dubstep Vol. 1

Its hard at times to decide how to feel about Dubstep becoming so popular. Everyone knows that once a genre becomes mainstream that it really starts to get watered down, and the true followers get discouraged by all the wannabes and leaches who claim to be fans of the art. I mean, the main sub-genre of Dubstep is Brostep (worst name ever), named after the fraternity types who helped push it to the forefront. And now we have Skrillex, a screamo rockstar turned Dubstep superhero. Someone I would love to hate on, but is helping expose the genre to large groups of people who may never have come across it. Only time will tell if Dubstep is going to implode under the weight of its own rapid growth, so while we can, lets take a at some of the most recent dub-pop crossovers tracks before they become top 40.

Beatwalker – I’m not a huge fan of the original, but Beatwalker’s remix has become a dirty pleasure of mine. I’m stoked that its a fellow Floridian who made this decent remix of this, and is sharing it for free.

LMFAO sings about how fun it is to have fun, and party, and how awesome fun and partying are. And depending on the time of day, they may be in Miami, calling you a bitch. The only parts of this track I liked is when no one was trying to belt out a verse about how everyday they’re “shufflin”, which I suppose is what you do when you’re not gangster enough to hustle but you want to still seem like you could hurt someone…with dance. ~ trilla

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem (Beatwalker Dub Remix)

Adventure Club – Fuck you Adventure Club for making me want to sit through a Britney Spears remix. ~ trilla
lol, so true ~ royce
Britney Spears - Till the World Ends (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

Robokop - May God strike down any DJ that drops this tune. I have mad respect for Black Eyed Peas, but their tracks tend to quickly catch on and become repetitive, like an awesome shirt that get’s worn for several weeks straight it loses its edge and becomes mildly annoying. It’s a shame too, because this isn’t a bad remix, but I can’t fucking stand that chorus after hearing it used in every commercial, movie trailer, and TV show for the past several months. ~ trilla
Amen ~ royce

Total Recall – An evocative remix from Total Recall with many ‘ravey’ bleeps, bloops, and echoing female vocals to lend this track a very spacey flair. ~ trilla

It’s fun to listen to, but you wont see this tune in my mix. ~ royce
