Skrillex – Breathe (Michael White Dubstep Remix)

Spanish producer Miguel Blanco a.k.a Michael White from breakbeat wrecking crew, Destroyers, just posted this absolutely disgusting reincarnation of Skrillex’s ‘Breathe’ feat. Krewella. Its kinds like if Godzilla breathed fire on the original and sold the corpse to Skynet, who fused the charred remains with a T-800 Terminator. This track is a statement of the meaning behind Mr. White’s producer handle. Plus you can download it for free.

Kicks and Licks – Way too Loud EP

Kicks and Licks is a young Californian duo working hard to make a name for themselves in the world of Dub. Paying their dues in San Diego, the group is ending the year on a high note: opening for Nero and releasing their debut album nearly in tandem at the end of this month. The ‘Way Too Loud’ EP makes a solid statement for the group’s ambition, displaying their talents over a range of flavors. The EP as a whole is solid, but ‘Monsters’ really hits home for me with melancholy vocals and strings over some filthy, but melodic basslines. As the boys stay diligent in the studio, I expect big things from them in 2012. keep an eye out for EP when it drops on Funky Elements the 19th, and check out their website for updates and freebies.

Roll Deep – Picture Perfect (Cutline Remix)

The EDM collective, Roll Deep, has been making noise in the UK underground for over ten years. Most of the on again/ off again members including Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Styder, and J2k have been influential in a wide range of musical genres. Still hard at work, ‘Picture Perfect’ will be the first single off their newest album due to drop in April, along with this Cutline remix that is nothing short of a head-throbbing banger. Check it out.

DKS – Chaos / Illusion

DKS aka Max Clarke is a Surrey based producer who is working hard to make his mark on the Dubstep scene, garnering support from influential names such as Rusko, Plastician and Emalkay.

Having gained a substantial following on social media networks from free downloads ‘Leave the World Behind’ and a remix of Labrinth’s ‘Earthquake’ that was supported by Labrinth himself, DKS has become known for his interesting melodies and arrangements, providing a fresh breath of air to the scene.

As the new year approaches Max is gearing up to drop this huge release on Marlow’s infamous No Comply Records. Look for this when it drops on December 19th.

Maroon 5 – Moves Like Jagger (Shock to the System Remix)

Jake Dubber a.k.a. Shock to the System of Samoa Good Records has been grinding away in the Florida electronic scene for several years, and is unique style of production and performance has definitely caught my ear more than once. I originally came across one of his promo CDs when I was in Miami for the 2009 WMC, and played a few tracks from that disk for a while, but didn’t make the connection until I ran into the man himself one night at Turbo Tuesdays in St. Pete. Big ups to STTS because he relentlessly puts his time and passion into his music.

Jake dropped his new remix in my inbox last weekend and when I asked him about his inspiration for the track, this was his reply:

I like pop music, and I like to see what I can do with, as in my remix of it. Like ruining a song in the best way possible. I have always been a fan of vocal tracks and remixes. I had heard the original on the radio and thought I could have some fun with it. I have played it out at the last few shows I have played, and the crowd reaction was great! I just really enjoy having fun with remixes. Remixing tracks you wouldn’t expect to hear in the genre, IE Jonny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”, Ace of Base’s “All That She Wants”, Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”, and others.

Check out the remix, and cop the free download if you like it. Also keep an eye out for this guy because if he keeps it up like he has been, there’s no telling where he might land.
