I’m always surprised more people don’t know about Diplo, because there’s a good chance you’ve heard his work in the past two years and just never realized who was behind that catchy beat you were bouncing your head to. In the past few years he’s gone from producing M.I.A.’s most popular song Paper Planes, to getting nominated for a Grammy as one half of the duo behind Major Lazer, and still found time to sign the legendary Rusko to his powerhouse label Mad Decent. In all seriousness, Diplo has influenced the electronic music scene more in the past few years than any other individual I can think of. And now he’s coming to Tampa. For a Christmas party. It really is like some sort of gift from the music gods.
Two of my favorites are the remix of a track off his album Florida, and the collaboration he did with Lil Jon for U Don’t Like Me (which was transformed into a phenomenal remix from Datsik).

BARE Coming to St. Pete

Something big is coming to St. Pete this January. The amazing team responsible for Turbo Tuesdays at Fubar are kicking off what is looking to be a huge year for dubstep in Florida by bringing one of the fathers of filth to the Bay Area: Bare.
If you aren’t too sure who Bare is, I have no idea what is wrong with you. But seriously, have a listen to some of his releases that we’ve featured here just a few weeks ago.
Opus III – It’s A Fine Day (Bare Remix)
Combining the grittiness of hip-hop vocals with unashamedly obnoxious digital screeches and long heavy basslines, Bare lays down tracks with enough energy to make you want to leap out of your skin and dance with your skeleton. Fubar, and more precisely Turbo, has seen its fair share of wall-shaking DJ’s throw down to create a layer of sweat fueled energy that hangs in the air and sticks to you the moment you walk through the doors, but I’m seriously worried Jason, Joe, and the rest of the Turbo crew are just out of their mind with a party of this magnitude.
When I first found out about the show, my immediate question was “are you planning on knocking down a wall to fit everyone in?”, but no, no walls will be torn down… not intentionally anyway. Fubar is going to receive a strip down to its bare bones (worry not, the bar will stay intact). That means if you usually come to play wallflower or pose around the pool table, you best stay home, or put those dancing shoes on. Fubar is being optimized to destroy faces, ear drums, and any amount of effort you put into making your hair look all pretty. This show will sell out. It will be bigger than even the Floridub Launch Party, and it will be just the beginning.

The Los Angeles-based electronic-music Don known as Kraddy has always brought the undiluted sound of the underground to new audiences. From his work as a founding member of the infamous Glitch Mob to his groundbreaking solo work, Kraddy (born Matthew Kratz) has always been known for shattering genre conventions while moving crowds from coast to cost.
We are lucky enough to have this mastermind stopping through The Honey Pot in Ybor to pummel your eardrums with that next level sound.
