PLAYMA is at it again. This time bringing their sound across the pond to release on USA based imprint, Play Me Records. Exhibiting a distinct improvement in production quality, the new EP is definitely a step forward for the trio. The ‘Creepy EP’ adds a bit more American-style filth to their dynamic portfolio with enough gnarly Brostep bass to keep the kids moshing, while mixing in enough melody to keep the tracks from getting too obnoxious. Expect to hear this one smashing across dancefloors everywhere once it drops on May 28th.

PLAYMA – Creepy EP
FreQ Nasty – Bon Merde (FS & Liquid Stranger Remixes)
This nasty little EP dropped on High Chai Recordings yesterday. With heavy and creative remixes from heavyweights FS and Liquid Stranger, you know its going to be nothing short of dope. Now do the right thing and go buy a copy.
The Freestylers vs. Erb N Dub – Bounce to This ft. Alaska MC [video]
Originally released in 2010, ‘Bounce To This’ is an out-and-out rave track that made a huge impact on dance floors the world over thanks to its rattling Breakbeats, old skool influences and Alaska MC’s energetic vocal performance.
Now fans of heavy bass music will be climbing the walls to get their hands on the brand new Erb N Dub vs. Freestylers Drumstep mix. Packed with huge amounts of energy and wave upon wave of heavy synth action, this one will have dance floors running for cover every time it’s dropped. Listen to this track in your car or on any loud system and it easily lives up to its name.
Check out the video, and watch out for this banger when it drops later this month.
Stripe – Let It All Ft. Highly Suspect + Video
Only recently showing up on my radar, I didn’t expect much from this Boston based duo called Stripe. I knew that one of the members founded monster.com and then sold it off to pursue his music dreams, but I didn’t know that he had perfected a party-rocking style that I had never witnessed along the way. After I saw them live I was blown away.
Stripe’s record selection was on point, and their original production topped it off in just the right way, but that is only the beginning. There enormously nasty set left nearly no musical genre unviolated. I remember hearing Queen at one point, and The Beasty Boys at another with The Offspring somewhere in between. Normally I would expect that to be a bad move, but the way it was blended together made the crowd nearly explode.
Their newest Drumstep track ‘Let It All’ featuring vocals from Highly Suspect, dropped recently on MalLabel Music. So grab yourself a copy and if you are going to Ultra, do not miss these dudes set!
Here is the video evidence:
Low Pass Records – Now That We Have Your Attention Compliation
Fresh on the scene is Low Pass Records. The brain child of fellow Floridian bassheads Polish Pat and Thee Joker, this label has a lot of potential. Determined to make a name for themselves, they just dropped a massive compilation for their debut release featuring a wide range of talent and styles. With names like KLRGRM, Crimes!, Halo Nova & Keoki, I didn’t know what to expect. Here is what Pat has to say about their label:
The entire point of Low Pass Records is that we’re trying to showcase unsigned artists that have the talent, but aren’t getting the proper recognition they deserve (That doesn’t mean we haven’t brought on big names as well to help fuel the mix), and as the name implies, Low Pass Records is all about Bass and everything EDM. So if it’s Brostep,
Drumstep, or Moombahton, we’ll have it all and everything in-between.
The ‘Now That We Have Your Attention’ compilation LP already dropped on Beatport Jan. 26th, but keep an eye on LPR because I hear they have big things in store for the rest of the year. With EPs scheduled to drop every other week through May and another huge compilation LP set to drop at the end of the month, I wouldn’t be surprised if Low Pass becomes a household name very soon.
Evol Intent Remixes by Reso & Bro Safari
Destroying dance floors and causing more ruckus than football hooligans, Evol Intent have been on a spectacular roll recently, allowing themselves room to span genres with the flick of a wrist. and enlisting two of the hottest producers around to rework a pair of Evol Intent bangers.
First up is Reso, making a move on ‘Middle of the Night’, twisting it into a stunning DnB/Drumstep monster packed with grinding drops and beautifully euphoric breakdowns.
Next Knick’s alter-ego, Bro Safari, offers up his remix of ‘Under’. Taking the wide-open beauty of the original and pairing it with tough drums and winding musicality, this one will undoubtedly suit those epic end of the night moments.
Both remixes are deep and energetic, with more than plenty face-melting bass. Both bangers will be available on Evol Intent Recordings February 14th.
NBRT – Professor Green (Document One Remix)
Another wicked remix on the horizon from the destructive Dubstep duo called Document One. I absolutely love their style and since they signed to Buygore, the onslaught has been consistently relentless. Not sure when this drops or if it is part of Document One’s forthcoming album, but keep your eyes pealed because everything these guys put their hands on becomes highly combustible.
Sirkit – Shake ‘N Bake
Fellow Floridian and striving producer, Sirkit, is starting off 2012 on the right path. With releases lined up on Samoa Good Recordings and Gamma Audio, I see big things in the future for this young padawan. Follow him on facebook if you want to be in the know.
Hectix – Overnight / Love Radar
According to the scuttlebutt, DnB legend, John B, found this Rising Russian producer during a tour through the country last year. Hectix has had some releases on Talking Beatz and Ammunition, but he is now set to skyrocket with his debut release on John B’s Beta Recordings. Aggressive, solid and heavy this release should please bassheads of all kinds. Check your digital dealer on January 23rd to get your copy.
