So this actually happened… the official title is “Borgore’s Not Promising Anything When Im Drunk Ever Again, Remix” but we’ll just call it badass. It’s not the first time I’ve heard an unorthodox collaboration from Mr. Gore that’s turned into a personal favorite (see No Love). He really shines when he steps out of the genre to mix his style of filth with something you wouldn’t expect.

Adele – Rolling In The Deep (Flam Clap Remix)
Accomplished, Grammy Award winning singer/song writer Adele is another pop figure dabbling in the Dubstep. Before she was 21, Adele had appeared on Saturday Night Live and also had a number one hit that stayed on the UK top ten charts for a record 4 weeks and still holds the records for most digital downloads. That said, shes gotta be talented. Lets take a peak.

Pop Goes Dubstep Vol. 1

Its hard at times to decide how to feel about Dubstep becoming so popular. Everyone knows that once a genre becomes mainstream that it really starts to get watered down, and the true followers get discouraged by all the wannabes and leaches who claim to be fans of the art. I mean, the main sub-genre of Dubstep is Brostep (worst name ever), named after the fraternity types who helped push it to the forefront. And now we have Skrillex, a screamo rockstar turned Dubstep superhero. Someone I would love to hate on, but is helping expose the genre to large groups of people who may never have come across it. Only time will tell if Dubstep is going to implode under the weight of its own rapid growth, so while we can, lets take a at some of the most recent dub-pop crossovers tracks before they become top 40.
Beatwalker – I’m not a huge fan of the original, but Beatwalker’s remix has become a dirty pleasure of mine. I’m stoked that its a fellow Floridian who made this decent remix of this, and is sharing it for free.

LMFAO sings about how fun it is to have fun, and party, and how awesome fun and partying are. And depending on the time of day, they may be in Miami, calling you a bitch. The only parts of this track I liked is when no one was trying to belt out a verse about how everyday they’re “shufflin”, which I suppose is what you do when you’re not gangster enough to hustle but you want to still seem like you could hurt someone…with dance. ~ trilla
Adventure Club – Fuck you Adventure Club for making me want to sit through a Britney Spears remix. ~ trilla
lol, so true ~ royce
Robokop - May God strike down any DJ that drops this tune. I have mad respect for Black Eyed Peas, but their tracks tend to quickly catch on and become repetitive, like an awesome shirt that get’s worn for several weeks straight it loses its edge and becomes mildly annoying. It’s a shame too, because this isn’t a bad remix, but I can’t fucking stand that chorus after hearing it used in every commercial, movie trailer, and TV show for the past several months. ~ trilla
Amen ~ royce
Total Recall – An evocative remix from Total Recall with many ‘ravey’ bleeps, bloops, and echoing female vocals to lend this track a very spacey flair. ~ trilla
It’s fun to listen to, but you wont see this tune in my mix. ~ royce
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Can’t Stop (Love and Light Remix)
I’ve listened to this song over and over again, but I still don’t have words to describe how much I enjoy it. Love and Light deliver a properly funky and impressively technical remix of this great anthem by one of Americas favorite rock bands. With some great original filth, Love and Light really make this remix their own, while keeping true to the feel of the original. Plus you can download it for free.
Girl Hollaaa

I randomly came across this track a couple weeks ago when work on the re-design was just beginning, and it served as part of the soundtrack that influenced what’s to come, so that’s pretty significant. When DJ RNS (aka Manotti da Vinci) then hit us up to let us know this was just a taste of what’s to come on his upcoming free EP, slated for a mid-summer release, I had to close Photoshop for a moment and turn you guys on to some hotness.

From Mississippi to Mars Mixtape

What a collaboration; three of my personal favorites Ego Thieves, DJ Hipnotikk, and DJ Nappy, in addition to Rock the Dub and DJ Cable and the rest of the crew collaborate to bring you a mixtape that you’ll love to hate on. The obnoxiousness is mouth-watering, like a bacon wrapped cheesecake deep fried and dipped in chocolate. Check out the bonus ender tune and then cop the whole mix from Hoodlum Music.

New Releases from Protohype

Protohype self label of ‘dub hop’ is a liiittle mis-leading’. Imagine glitch hop without the glitch, but with the distinctly electronic melodies, accompanied more often than not by the gangster-est rhymes from the likes of Gucci Mane and Wiz Khalifa. I can’t say any of their work has revolutionized my understanding of music, but they keep it interesting and they’re particularly friendly to their fans, releasing loads of free tunes in the short time they’ve been around. They just dropped two more in preparation for their 4th (!) album coming soon, Techknowledgy.
Dub Pop Weekly Vol. 12

Busy few weeks coming up here. Tomorrow is Tampa’s annual street riot, or what we locals call ‘Gasparilla’. Summary: drunk people, boobs, pirates, beads. Next week 6Blocc and Prolific are coming to town, we interviewed Prolific this week and I’ll just say the man is strongly opinionated about his music. Passion! That’s what we like to see. Right after that is our own collabo with Tuff Love Dubs to bring you the next Floridub.com Presents party, with a ridiculous lineup. You know how most shows, you talk about the headliner? Well, everyone on our roster is headliner caliber, so when you mention one you have to mention them all. The way I see it, we don’t have any openers or closers, we have 5 artists all of which I’ve gladly payed to see headline different events on their own. Hulk is the main attraction though since as far as I know this is his first appearance in Tampa, and I am assured he will be “bringing it”.
A classy remix from KickShifta that doesn’t overpower the vocals. With several mainstream artists set to jump on the bandwagon this year, this is like a glimpse into the future of one sub-genre of dubstep that’s set to get a lot of lovin’.
I really like M.I.A., her voice sounds incredible paired with any sort of spacey mellow sounds, as MiHKAL demonstrates here. This was part of the Gruntworthy LP that we covered.
Funkiness from High Rankin.
