Mix Drop: 5/28/2011

Happy Saturday Floridubbers. I’m still on the grind so updates have been minimal, but things look like they should be clearing up soon. For now just soak up these fresh mixes that dropped over the last week or so, and check back soon cause we have some dope tunes to post up very soon.
Hulk - This one came out a few weeks ago and already has more than 10k plays on Soundcloud. So if you haven’t heard this one already, check it out.
Ohm Grown -This Hawaiian duo continues to make waves with their mashups and remixes. This time its their entry to the Dodge & Fuski minimix contest that hit on our radar.
Roksonix – One of our favorite members of the Circus Records camp just dropped some serious madness on filth.fm last week. Make sure you hear this one.
Flux Pavilion & Doctor P – Takeover! Mix on BBC Radio1
Flux Pavilion & Doctor P take it full-force to the MistaJam show to get the juices flowing for their upcoming Takeover! tour. I keep hearing that there will be dates in Florida, however I don’t have anything solid for you yet. But rest assured fellow Floridubbers, we will keep you posted. For now check out this nasty mix and keep it locked right here.
Inspector Dubplate – The Moustache Mixtape Volume 2
Wicked new mix from international Dubstep Badass, Inspector Dubplate. If this doesnt get you pumped for the upcoming show on Tuesday, nothing will.
Tracklist after the jump.
Overdrive with Inspector Dubplate & Diesel Canceled

I was blown away when KingKrow dropped this flyer on us a few weeks back, because somehow the Turbo Tuesday crew has started chipping away at that vast expanse of ocean that serves as a wall between the heaviest hitting Dubstep artists from the heart of the UK and us mere Floridians. Although I do find it a testament to the awesomeness of Florida that we’re one of the few locations in North America getting the opportunity to wobble to both Inspector Dubplate and Diesel playing back to back sets no less. Just one of them would be a party worth checking out, but a two-fer? Shit, I dare you to try finding a stick worthy of shaking at that. And if my words don’t convince you, let your ears do the talking (then promptly cut those bitches off because ears should not be talking)
And just to get the juices flowing, heres a lil video we threw together from the last Turbo Tuesday Overdrive Party featuring SPL:
Sadly, this show got canceled due to complications involving the artists visas.
DJ RNS – Dubstep /// Bass Level 3
DJ RNS aka Manotti da Vinci, dropped this killer new mix in our in box the other day, and I’ve been straight rinsing it out at home. It has an amazing track selection with a few of his originals sprinkled on top. Enjoy.
Some Jerk – Dubstep Is Dead

This is a nicely formulated mix and message from Miami’s own, Some Jerk, I came across over the weekend:
“I really could not think of a more ridiculous yet true statement to pronounce. At a time where the genre’s style is oozing into just about every facet of commercial music, it’s undeniable influence is permeating the ears of the unknowing, yet there is debate as to the future, and current state, of the most interesting and revolutionary genre in dance music since jungle.
Not that long ago, the “dub” element of dubstep was prominent; echos and delays paid tribute to the old days of blowing marijuana smoke into a microphone, getting the music high and, by proxy, the listener. Enjoying the space in between sounds, the effects and vibes that dub lovers lusted were eventually found in most forms of electronic music, and the DJ/sound system culture provided the template for selectors to come.
Nowadays, anything that is at or near 140 BPM and has sub bass is considered to be “dubstep” and rarely utilizes the same use of space, bass and place. Where snares and voices would echo and reverb, distorted synths stab, and heavy drums pound, leaving barely any room for the listener to think. This is, I believe, a reflection of our times. Immersed in over-stimulation from the various forms of media that used to entertain us and now imprison us, we are subjected to a barrage of frequencies that confuse and numb us. The only escape, for some of us, is music, and I believe that this is what holds us all together, as an international community and as friends, and regardless of the sounds being played, the sound will continue to grow, evolve and piss off more people that “just don’t like it” or get it. Until a few months pass, and they too, will go from hater, to supporter, to attempting to capitalize on it.
This mix is by no means the headstone on the tomb of our beloved dubstep music, but I chose the tracks that were used for very particular reasons – I want people to understand, embrace and love the different strands of music that have stemmed from dubstep, and to understand that it is simply a permutation of bass music.” – Some Jerk
Smash Gordon – Smash your F**king Face Vol. 3
Self proclaimed “savior of the universe”, Smash Gordon, is getting ready to drop this new mix May 15th on Buygore. I’m not sure how I feel about this guys attitude, but the mix definitely lives up to its name.
