BASSFACE Vol. 15

Heres another batch of blazin’ bangers that showed up on my radar over the past week or so.

Minnesota – Let’s start things off with some heavy west coast Hip-Hop flavored funk. Known more for his mid-tempo glitch tracks Santa Cruz based “lumberjack-nerd” producer, Minnesota, proves he can deliver some devilish Dubstep production with this one. Minnesota – Roof Back (Original Mix)

Matthew Sterling -This NY based producer caught me completely off guard with his incredibly aggressive remix of this dance anthem.

The Knocks – Dancing With The DJ (Mathew Sterling Remix)

MK Ultra - Focused on making deep and trippy wubs, this guy won me over when he released “Dark Star” a couple weeks back. He continues to deliver with an interesting and original blend of psy-step or “sci-step” as he calls it. I recommend keeping an eye on this guy.

MK Ultra - Obliteration Imminent

SubVibe & Fuzion – Here is another melodic lil banger from some new artists who caught me by surprise this week.

SubVibe & Fuzion - Silent Assault

Point Blank - This Belgium based Dubstep duo is another production force to look out for. This banger right here is forthcoming on Dubsaw Recordings.

Subshock – Overpower (Point Blank remix)

Jacob Plant – A pretty gnarly remix from London’s Jacob Plant. He uses a lot of regurgitated patches and samples for this one, but its still pretty fun to listen to. You can order a copy here.

Mellowstep Monday

This picture sums up the gloom and apprehension that surrounds the way I look at Monadys. Sorry to leave y’all hangin, but I managed to spend all of my free time in the studio this weekend which needless to say, rearranged my priority list. So I in an attempt to make it up to you, I now present Mellowstep Monday.

Butch Clancy - Usually showing up in the Bassface section, Butch Clancy comes through a really nice remix of this song by Sia . It has its heavy parts, but it is mostly very soothing and almost theraputic to listen to. I hope you enjoy it as much as me. Oh, and you can download it for free right here.

Sia - Breathe Me (Butch Clancy Remix)

Jess Mills - Another Euro-Pop star dabbling in Dubstep releases. This track is very well made, but there are no production credits given.

Jess Mills - Live For What I'd Die For

KOAN Sound - Following up his last release “Trouble in the West”, is the first mellow jam I’ve heard come from this Bristol based producer. It is another well made, tranquil and therapudic sounding track. Here is the purchase link.

Andain - Promises (KOAN Sound Remix)

Distance - I am truly impressed by this really deep and involved tune. I don’t know how I have overlooked this Producer, but I will definietly keep an eye on him from now on. His remix of “Too Close” by Alex Care is forthcoming on Island Records.

Alex Care - Too Close (Distance Remix)

Blackmill - I was caught off guard with how impressively imaculate this tune from long-time unsigned, up-and-coming Brittish Producer, Robert Card. Look out for this guy.

Blackmill - My Love

Heist - This veteran DnB producer comes through with some really sickening original patches in his new tune called “Slugs & Snails”. Heist describes this tune as: “3rd dubstep thing ive finished, no release date at this time”. I Love it.

Liquid Stranger - Another solid tune from one of my favorite American Artists. Exhibiting the diversity of his style with this one, Liquid Stranger branches out to the more traditional dub format, but maintains the weight we’ve come to expect from his tracks. Plus its free if you like his facebook page.

Mellowstep Sunday

Happy Sunday Florridubbers. Enjoy these tunes and do your best to relax and avoid the heat as you prepare for another week.

Laney – This beautiful, funky and spacy jam from rookie Brit., Laney, has one of those perfectly irresistible Mellowstep grooves to it. This is what its all about. Put out for free by Dank ‘n’ Dirty Dubz.

Laney - Summer Feet

Liquid Stranger - Two new tunes from this Scottsdale, AZ based fan favorite. Arcane, has a creative vibe to it that travels from deep tribal to an Electro-Hip-Hop and Raggae influenced flavor. Bombaclaad Star is exactly what I expected from a song with that title. Its a funky and chilled out dubby-dub track that is undeniably solid.

Liquid Stranger - Arcane

Liquid Stranger – Bombaclaad Star

Fytch - This soothing lil vocal wub from Netherlands was supposed to be featured in last weeks Mellowstep post, but it was misplaced so you get it this week with an added bonus.

Robotic Pirate Monkey – The innovative, Colorado based Dub-Jamtronic band is at it again. This one is out to promote their current California tour. Watch out for these guys.

Filth Collins - A heavy but chill tune from this well known Australian producer. Its definitely a trippy tune to zone out to on a lazy Sunday.

Mellowstep Memorial Day

Well, I’ve got nothing patriotic to say. Just an excuse as to why I spent all day with a friend visiting from law school instead of keeping my fellow Floridubbers up to speed with this marvelous mellowstep. Please forgive me. I’ve got some more, heavier stuff that will be posted later today for ya as well so keep it locked.

Fedbymachines - This Deep House artists from the Netherlands decided to experiment with mellowstep one day, and this is what happened.

Fedbymachines - Bleed

Excision & Downlink - Two of the last names you’d expect to be associated with mellostep dug into their archives and posted some of their roots production work earlier this week on Soundcloud. Check it out.

Excision & Downlink - 2005

Kotez - Long time British producer has this deep and pleasant tune dropping July 18th on Eight:fx. If you’re into mellostep, definitely keep an eye on this guy.

Kotez - Nebula (Original)

Magnetic Man - Its been a while since I’ve heard anything from this epic production team, but their new tune does not disappoint. This vast and emotionally epic mellowstep journey is the last single from their forthcoming self-titled album releasing this year sometime.

Robokop - Another name not familiar to the mellowstep posts comes through with a relaxing remix just in time for this day of reflection. enjoy.

Special thanks to Harold Camping for trying to freak everyone out again. So, since the rapture didn’t come… again, I hope my fellow Floridubbers are relaxing and soaking in our beautiful weather today along with this soundtrack today. Enjoy.

Kid Brando – This Canadian producer showed up on my mellowstep radar this week with this little banger that”l get in your head and resonate like the end of a nice fat spliff.

Sikdope - A nice and heavy, but chill melodic vocal banger from this Polish production powerhouse. Perfect to groove out ton on a lazy Sunday.

Ibenji - Some smoothed out soulful jazz sounds, beautifully orchestrated in a traditional dub format. Very fresh tunes coming from this Russian artist. I will be keeping an eye on him.

Mellowstep Sunday

Hello Floridubbers. It was another crazy week so I am very glad to have today to relax and chill out to a bunch of new Mellowstep jams. Check the site for updates that weren’t included in our Facebook streem this week, and stay tuned because we’re about to make a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT about a SUPER SECRET GUEST DJ coming to Turbo Tuesday this week!

Robotic Pirate Monkey - Colorado based Dub-Jamtronic band, got me by surprise with their awesome chill and glitchy remixes of American classic hits like Aerosmith’s “Sing With Me”, and “Peaches” by The Presidents. Check our their free EP they just released through the TSIS blog. It is a very well produced, upbeat and almost comical take on Mellowstep.

Robotic Pirate Monkey - Sidetracked EP

Kidnap & Ransom - I know there are a million remixes of this tune and everybody is probably already tired of hearing the vocals, but I had to post this remix. This is some truly deep and progressive Mellowstep. Keep an eye out for Kidnapandransom.

Chase & Status - Time (Kidnap & Ransom Remix)

Bukez Finezt - German Dustep mogul, Bukez Finezt, recently posted this lil tune on Soundcloud. It’s a little bland and repetitive, but its definitely got that throw-back traditional wobble feel to it.

Bukez Finezt - Scary Canary

Tim Ismag - Another consistently impressive Russian producer let this wicked wobbly track go for free earlier this week. Download it here.

Tim Ismag - Megamozg

Adventure Club - This Canadian duo just keeps impressing me with their nonstop awesome tracks they let go for free. This Thrice remix is no exception. Check it out.

Thrice - Broken Lungs (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix)

Mellowstep Sunday

Skream – You’ve probably heard this one already, but it is definitely worth another listen. Skream dropped this heavenly remix of “Drive” by Alpines earlier this week.

Alpines - Drive (Skream's I Ain't Got A License Remix)

Specimen A – If you don’t know who Specimen A is, you should. He has been making waves in the international Breakbeat scene for years now and started dropping Dubstep bangers in late 2009. We have featured him in previous posts, and he is responsible for my favorite tune of 2010: “Forgot About Breaks”. Here are two remixes he recently completed:

Deekline & Ed solo vs Donna Dee - Always (Specimen A VIP)

Chase & Status - Time Ft Delilah (Specimen A Remix)

Backdraft – Legendary Breakbeat production duo, partially responsible for innovating the “tearout” sub-genre, just dropped their first Dubstep tune. Backdraft is known largely for the Reggae influence int heir tunes, so the crossover makes perfect sense. When you’re vibing to this tune remember you heard about all these Breakbeat crossover artists at Floridub first. ;)

Backdraft Feat. Fox - Pon a knife edge

Kromabis – Fresh out of the Netherlands, Kromabis is striving to make a name for himself with his unique style of Dubstep production. I appreciate the time spent creating depth and melody in his music, and I cant wait to see where it goes in the future. “The Sensitive”, his most recent track is available to download for free.

Ganja White Night – Northern Light (+ Free Track)

Ganja White Night is a fine and smokable blend of organic sounding dub with gentle overtones of distorted synths. It takes me to a good place.

Sook – La Mer Studio Mix 2010

I’ve been thoroughly rinsing this mix from Sook for the past week, lots of goodies in here. The introductory track from Antiserum & No Thing is what hooked me, the mystery tracks and overall chill tempo is what kept me coming back.
